Default 3:73 or 3:90 gears in a 2 series carrier?

Is this recommended?
I know with a spacer or other modifications they will fit..
But has anyone gone this route?

I don't want to use a 2 series carrier for this upgrade..
Is that unreasonable?

Default

You can just buy a thick ring gear also. Much safer than a spacer, just added ring gear weight.
Or just buy a 3 series carrier
