Can anybody tell me what gears im running in my rear end?
I have a 2K1 LS1, A4.
How would i find out which rear end i have?
Are the stock camaro rear ends a Peg-Leg? (not posi)?

Look on your RPO code sticker on the drivers’ door. If you can find a GU5 then you have a 3.23 car. If you can find a GU2 then you have a 2.73 car. They all have posi. You will only have one of these codes, so whichever you find will be the one you have for sure.

I would say first to upgrade your TC before messing with gears. Going from 2.73 to 3.23 won’t net you much of a gain, and isn’t worth the cost IMO.
If you don’t want to upgrade the TC and really feel like you want to do gears I would go to a 3.73. At least then you will see a gain (though not a BIG one).
I would look at a TC change long before doing gears. I have the stock 3.23s and I plan to keep them until or unless the break.
Most people that do a TC swap first never bother to get gears unless they are looking to set up a max effort car.

Ok, let me ask this....What kind of TC should i be looking at? I dont race my car at the strip or anything, but occassionally i'll smoke a honda or two...mostly stangs
Would my gas mileage go even lower, (not that i care much), but im just curious.
my car is a daily driver, what kind of TC should i look into?

I have a A4 w/2.73's and I've read from other posts you'll see a big diff. in gas mileage with a torque converter. Also read some have problems w/ tc not locking up in certain situations. wish I could afford one anyway

If you don't know the history of the car(bought it used) make sure someone didn't already change the gears. Jack up rear and mark tires and dive shaft. Spin the wheels and count revolutions in relation to one drive shaft turn. Example wheel spins about three and a half turns to one drive shaft revolution 3.42 gears It will get you close

Gas mileage around town could change with a converter change-depends what you go with. Highway should be unchanged, mine gets the same mileage on highway trips but eats more gas around town.
