How many teeth enguaged in 3.42 rear at one time?

How many teeth enguaged in 3.42 rear at one time? I have a missing tooth but she seems to drive fine for now, but, this should be interesting to say the least. Just wondering how many teeth are in contact at one time?

I was afraid you were gonna say that as it leaves me perplexed a little how one ring gear tooth could be ripped off and all the rest still intact.

Its more like 3 or so. There are only 12 on the pinion total, you can figure on about 1/4 of the being in mesh. You will probably have 2 with very good contact and another couple with less contact.
