i think the highway driving will be fine if you do close to the speed limit and you dont like to cruise at like 100mph. a friend of mine had 4.10s in an a4 and they SUCKED on the highway if you didnt go like 65-70. THEY WOULD TEAR *** OUTTA THE HOLE THOUGH!!!! you'll be alright

You could use the F-body gear calc and see exactly but factoring stock redline and tire size here are a few #s to think about. Calc is in the top sticky

4th gear @ 70mph = 2500 rpm
4th gear @ 1200rpm = 34 mph
6000 in 1st gear 38 mph.

because any money spent doing anything to a 10 bolt is a waste of money. you'd get more out of it if you took it to a scrap yard.

its weak, it will break, it will cost $1,000+ just to rebuild...

the 10 bolt was built for the S10 pickups...why GM put them in a 300+ hp v8 performance car is beyond me....

is that a good enough explanation?

It will break !! Sure there are some out there that still have them but the precentage is real low with that kind of gear especially ! Do youself a real big favor you being an auto get the 12bolt and forget about it !

3.90's here at 2100rpm is 60mph not bad at all.............imo and still running the same 10 bolt that was bought in the car when it was brand new have replaced the gears 3 times 3.73's ,then 4.56's and now about 2000 miles on 3.90's.......I have pulled as low as 1.50 to 1.55 60' on et streets.

Once it breaks, it's justified.

How long have you had them in? How often do you take it to the track? The only problem I would have is I don't drive 60.

only had them in around 2000 miles have only ran at the track with the 3.90's twice but have went wot on the street many times..........the only thing about them is if you drive say like I did 4 hour ride running at 70mph your taching 2500rpm.........but now if your looking for something to run 150mph in you need to go the other way lol 3.23''s or what mine had when it was bought 2.73's........but for fun factor 3.90's are nice.
