Default Tight spot in rear end.

I had a tight spot in my stock rear with 4.10s and it kept getting worse. The mechanic said the housing was warped so I got another one and a new SLP takeout carrier. It also has a tight spot, you can take the driveshaft off and jack up the car turning it by hand it has a tight spot then it frees up for the other 80% of the round then tight again. I took it to another shop and this one is telling me my carrier is bad. You can losen the 4 main cap bolts up and it frees up. Tighten them back and it gets tight again, anyone have any idea whats happening.
thanks David G.

Could be a carrier. Should pull cover & inspect cotact pattern especially in the area of the binding.Could be ring & pinion too , b.t.w. big gears for a 10 bolt, runnin alot of power? Maybe 12 bolt time? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

You could have a bent pinion gear, or maybe the ring gear isn't properly torqued to the carrier. It could also be improperly installed bearings, but if you have had these gears on 2 different carriers and the problem is still there, I would have to blame the gears.

I broke the gears on this carrier once already and just put in a used set of 4.10s out of a friends car hardly any miles. They acted the same as before I broke the gears. With the different gears it is still the same.
By the way where is the cheapest place to get a 12 bolt. Or maybe a used 12 bolt or 9"?
