help me decide.....stay with 3:23's or go to 3:73's???
I am thinking ahead for when the ten bolt breaks. I have a good posi unit and axles ready to go in, but, I am wondering if I need to go to 3:73's or not. I hear that the 3:23's are the strongest gear for a ten bolt, but, 3:73's would help me in the 1/8th. Which would you recomend me going with? Also which brand is a good strong gear to go with?
Thanks

not for nothing but if it helps you in the 1/8 it will also help you in the 60ft and 1/4 provided you dont run out of gear. my old vette motor had a similar power curve to a stock ls1 with an exhaust ran 12.95 with 3.07 gears and 12.65 with 3.73's with no other changes. I took off .14 in the 60' and carried 1.3 mph extra in the 1/8 and 1.8mph more in the 1/4. That motor made about 312 rwhp @ 5800-6200 rpms and 318 rwtq @ 4500 through an UNLOCKED 700r4.

With an auto i wouldnt be worried a ton about the 10 breaking to begin with, depending on what size cam you got in there and how badly youre abusing the rear. the auto's dont hurt the rear as much as the manuals do. But the 3.73's would be fine, thats what a lot of people upgrade to in the autos

373's arent gonna slow you down in the 1/4, that doesnt even really make sense, and theres really not much noticeable difference between the 323's and the 342. so either go 373's or keep the 323's. just my 2 cents tho. i have 4.10s in my 10 bolt, m6 though, i love em
