~~~~Help me, axle stuck in diff~~~~
I did my normal 4-6 second burnout and then staged. I launch at 3k off the spray. I never spray in first gear. My best 60 of the day was a 1.9. On my second to last run I felt a clunk and a shake when I turned onto the return road. Upon inspection I found that my panhard rod was loose. I tightened it and went to make another run.. When this run was done, it was making loud noises from the rear. I drove the car home. On the way home it was surging like something was slipping in the rear as well as clunking bad when going up hill.
Well today I pulled the cover to find my rear filled with metal shavings and fragments of my Torsen Diff. I started to disassemble it when I ran into this problem:
1. Removed C-clip retainer, rear brakes.
2. Pushed passenger side axle in and C-clip dropped and axle came right out.
3. Tried the same with the driver side and had no such luck. It seems that the gear is stuck on the end of the axle. I can wiggle the C-clip, but it will not fall out. We tried to wedge the gear so that we could knock the axle in a little further. No luck.
I am thinking tomorrow I will get a bigger hammer to hit the axle in with and wedge something against the gear to hold it still.
Any ideas on how in the heck I can get this axle out?
