gear ratios

gear ratios I still have the stock gears in my 99 trans am. I heard getting different gears can make you quite a bit faster and just take away from your top speed. I heard 3.73 was a good ratio but just wanted to know what you guys think. I want to be quicker but not take away from my top speed a whole lot. Also I'd like to know of any other cheap or easy mods to make it faster. I have a K&N air filter and shift kit but thats it. thanks

Re: gear ratios I have replaced the 3.23 gears in my 02 T/A with the 3.73s....... LOVE EM...dont know about "taking off the top speed" i've had the speedo pegged, which is around 158/ 160 i'm guessing, How fast do ya want ta go???

Re: gear ratios I didn't know there was different forums. Anyways I don't really care about the top speed that much anyways. I just want to be quicker. What does it do for your gas mileage though?
