4.10's in a ten bolt?

4.10's in a ten bolt? I'm having GM Motive 4.10 gears installed on Tuesday. I plan on only using them from a roll of 10mph or higher. NO LAUNCHES! Okay, VERY occasional launches but no 5k rpm drops either- just enough for a little spin and then traction. They won't rip out will they? I'm not running DR's but they are some pretty sticky 295's. Are the teeth really that much more fragile on the 10 bolt gears that street racing could break them? A guy I know is going to install them for me for $100 so I'll have less than $600 in it.
-The TA girdle and stud kit is $180. The MAC is only $130. Does that include the stud kit? Do I even need the stud kit? What is its purpose?
-I'll need 4 qts. of oil and one bottle of GM posi additive right? Some are saying only 3 qts. Does it matter what kind? LS1 motorsports sells Royal Purple and they are close to me. 75w90 Synthetic? It is $8 a qt. Worth it?
-I am stuck between getting a used HPP+ and the SLP speedo recalibrato. Can I resell the SLP speedo after I chane my gears or does it function like the HPP3+ and need to be reset on the original VIN # making it useless to anyone else?
-If my gears don't go out (hopefully,) will they whine after a while? This guy says he has done a lot of gears and they have never whined- even after two years. He even calaimed to have installed a set of Richmonds and they weren't all that bad. Is that in the installer's hands? I do know he is very **** about his work. Any help, advice or insight is greatly appreciated fellas. TIA- Mike W.

Re: 4.10's in a ten bolt? every car is different. we have had gears setup that were perfectly quiet for as long as they were in the car (either blown out or taken out) and then we've had cars that could sing you to sleep no matter what you did or type of oil used ...... its a chance you take when installing 3.73 or lower gears. if at all possible go with gm gears

Re: 4.10's in a ten bolt? Well the 4.10 will break after a while, depending on how bad you beat on it. I just had my 4.10 go out on me. I had a TA girdle and an Auburn posi in mine. The TA girdle is good cause it pushes down on the bearings and helps keep it from moving. Is it needed?? I dont think so, just how you feel, if you want i have a TA girdle for sale if interested. Ill sell it to ya for 130.
