And what shifter is your ?????
H-E-L-P !!!!!!!
A good shifter will make a little bit more noise than the factory hurst. If that doesn't bother you, then you're good to go. My car did not even make it 2000 miles before the hurst had been ripped out and a kirban installed in its place.
I've heard very good things about the pro 5.0, Ripper, and the kirban. I've never used anything other than the kirban, but It was a MAJOR improvement over the stock hurst.
From what I have been able to see, the B&M Ripper has the shaft curved a bit over toward the driver, the pro 5.0 and kirban are straight shafted.
I know at least one sponsor is offering the rippers for ~160 shipped, and the stock hurst shifters COMMONLY sell on ebay for anywhere from 80-130 bucks. I personally sold mine for 125 after I purchased my kirban used for just under 100 bucks.

Okay guys,.....where can I find this pro 5.0 shifter ??? jegs, summit ???

Afterthoughts Auto sells a special package that includes the "Pro 5.0" shift linkage and a "Lou's Short Stick" handle for a very reasonable price. Check it out. With the Pro 5.0 shifter and the Lou's stick/handle (which is also bent left and back for a more natural feel and motion) you'll have the best all-around combo.
Okay well heres another question....... isn't the stock hurst shifter in my SS the one that Jegs and Summit sells ???? (Hurst billet/plus shifter). This my 1st 4th gen camaro and I'm not up on all the new high stuff...... Ive got a 2nd gen camaro and love all the "old school" stuff!

no. they're not the same.
What's really funny is...if you buy a 6spd car, you have to buy a Hurst, but they still charge $300 extra for the Hurst. (At least, thats what I was told by the dealer)

The dealer lied (a shocker I know!).
Anyways, the main reason the factory Hurst is also inadequate is because the shaft is still a two-piece design with a rubber isolator. Most aftermarket's are a one piece shaft with a billet aluminum (istead of stamped steel) base.
