Default really weird situation with broken rear

ok so i take the cover off the thing expecting the gears or the diff to be thrashed what i found was two bolts broken with the heads sitting in the bottom of the rearend. they are two of the inner bolt. my question is should pull the gears off take the broken bolts off and put it back together or replace everything? i think i am just going to replace the bolts and wait till i break it again. the thing that worried me was all the metal shavings on the magnet. what should i do i really dont feel like buying a new diff and gears plus my car came stock with a torsen.
thanks
david

I feel your pain... I had the EXACT same thing happen to me last year and this year. Last year was covered under warranty, but this year I was on my own. I removed the broken bolts with ease outs, and I am thinking of just replacing them in case I happen to need it one day. I am in the process of installing a Moser 9" because I am getting tired of the problems out of the 10 bolt. Since I have had my car (bought new in 99) I have had the pinion bearing replaced twice, the axle bearing and axle shaft replaced once, and the bolt heads shear off of the carrier twice.

As far as what to replace goes, you could put a band aid on it and just replace the missing bolts if the gears look good. But, there is no telling if it will last.
