Default Ideas for 9 inch....

i am buying a complete Ford 9 inch out of an old truck for $100. Its 58 inch total length from wheel mount to wheel mount. I need to figure out what brand of axles and what splines to go with...I am thinking 31 spline and a Trutrac differential with 4.22 gear 27 inch tall tire, but I may go 3.90 with a 26 inch tall tire b/c I am gonna be spraying a big shot (175 to 225) on the car and I wanna get through the quarter. Just asking for any advice you guys can give on what works good N/A and on spray. Mods are in my sig. and there are no right or wrongs, just looking for INPUT.

Its a PIA. Save and get the Moser 9" package w/ axles and the housing for $1K. Then find yourself a good 3rd mamber. I just went through HELL trying to get everything to work and i wish i would have went with that package. Most people get them together for around 1500

i agree,, they really have went up in price when i purchased my moser housing/axle kit it was only $800,, but you really should be able to put a 9" together for $1500 or less and you get there housing and matched axles so you know the length and bearings will be correct, no messing around

And currie is the only company that will sell you there TA mount. It's a good piece but it's another $170, you looking at 300 for good moser axles, 65 for sealed bearings and they you'll need a good shop to either cut off the 10 bolt backets or order the mounting kit from currie. The Fbody rear from axle tube end to tube end is 59.5" in length and the pumpkin of the one you have has to offest due to the orginal casing. If you dont get the right off set the 3rd member will hit the tunnel and its all down hill from then.

I sell the Moser 9 inch housing and axles for $1,000.00 shipped. This package eliminates a lot of headaches. Bob

Not to hi-jack, but can you link me Currie's tq arm mount they sell? Do you weld it onto a stock 9" housing? or how does it work? Does anyone on here run one?

Would love to see a pic.

i run one. I might be able to get a pic tomorrow morning. They have to be welded to the top and bottom of any 9" case. They are very strong, almost like tank iron.

A friend of mine here in Ashland, KY made his own torque arm mount for the 9 inch he fabbed up for his 2002 Z28. I will have him make me one. It is just as strong as any others, and is actually lighter than the moser mount.

I need axles, differential, gear, bearings, u joint...What else guys???
I am gettin the complete rearend for $100, I can use that housing and centersection and maybe some other stuff. I dont have the cash to buy a housing kit from a sponsor and it would take me a very long time to save up since I just put around $7000 in the car (motor, tranny, among other minor things). Its much more do-able for me to peice this together along the way, and not spend a huge chunk all at once.

I got my rear from scott at driveline solutions ! 9in with 4.11 gears and had it shipped to my house for around 2300 and is the best mod i have done to my car ! You never have to worry about breaking it unless your making ungodly amount of power!
