Local guy broke his HD Aluminum on the first launch with it at the track. I *think* he's been running high 10's. He didn't break the shaft, tho, he broke the yoke. He's since upgraded to the NR unit.
IMHO, follow Denny's advice and get the right shaft for the job. The NR.

i just ordered a denny's nitrous ready steel drvieshaft 1350 series for my '93 LT1. it may weigh more than a aluminum one ,but it's a very strong piece. Remember ,this is good weight for your car and alot safer and it won't break.

I just cant see myself spending money on a heavy driveshaft. It's strong and everything but there are strong driveshafts out there that are lighter.
I might give the Heavy Duty Aluminum a try, if it breaks, then I will upgrade. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i just bought an aluminum shaft from Mark Williams. had a MW chromoly shaft last year, but i wanted to lose some weight and a moly shaft wouldnt be ideal for the RPMs i will be turning my shaft next year. i wanted a CF shaft, but couldnt see spending that money when one hit against the ds loop would make it history. the MW Duralcan MMC shaft is a very nice peice, and the MW tranny yokes are the strongest around, but it cost me $740+ shipping. you might also want to look at Dynotech's MMC aluminum shafts. they sell for $500. i bought one of those also and i looks like a nice peice, although i would worry about the tranny yoke in a serious launching car
