Default The frustrations of stupidity

I was removing the cover off my 12-bolt to replace the pre load bolts see.... ( http://www.jupiterdentist.com/z28/im...rokenbolt1.jpg ..another post... not my fault), well I got the cover off, spent a half hour cleaning the damn red rtv off the cover and the housing, put some new rtv on, put the cover back on, torqued all the bolts, poured the additive in. THEN...

I checked to see if I had the right angle on the gear oil, testing to see if the top of the bottle fits in the hole so that most of the gear oil will come out of the bottle.... well I didn't take the red plastic cap off the bottle, and you got it.... fell right in the hole.

Had to do it all over again. I hate red rtv!!!

So moral of the story don't be as stupid as me when changing gear oil <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Damn that sucks, sorry man. One sure way to avoid that and not getting all your lube in is to place a piece of tubing pressure fitted over the conical outlet and run it into your rear fill hole. once it is all outta the bottle, disconnect and chase the tubing (lift it up forcing it to drain the oil in the tube into your diff.) better luck next time. And yeah, Red RTV has been a proven necessary evil.

Charlie.
