Default Help with gear for a 2.73 z28

The car is: 98 Z28 (A4 with shift kit, i don't know if that makes a difference in the gearing) with the 2.73

I have a 3.73 gear out of a truck (it is for a 10 bolt and it was a 7.5inch 10 bolt) that was barely used and is in pretty good condition. The problem I have is that a couple buddys of mine told me mine may be a series 2 carrier (sp?). If that is true then this gear would be useless for me. So I am now on a hunt for a gear for my car. I really want a 3.73 for acceleration purposes.

Do any of the sponsors sell the gears for my car? If so could you provide me with links to them!

Thanks!

Yes, you definitely do have a 2 series carrier. Just check out the sponsors and see what they have for a 2 series carrier, or call them for tech advice.

You can buy a spacer plate and make thoses gears work, but if I were you I would just get a set of aftermarket thick gears. Thats the same thing I run 3:73 thick gears.

I called EPP on lunch here but I got a answering machine

Oh well maybe they can chime in on the message I left on their gear sets.

Thanks for all of the responses!

This is what you need. Gears for a 3.08 and numerically lower carrier.

The spacer is not recommended. Strange and Motive both make thick gears for series 2 carriers.
