I agree 2 grand is alot to pay for a piece of crap like this. Mine whines so bad, I feel like I a have new born in the back seat, being poked in the eye with a pin. My clunk is not as bad as it was but is still annoying, a two thousnad dollar rear in a thirty thousand dollar car shouldn't do that. I'm embarrased to take people for a ride. Everyone tells me how I screwed up a nice car. Moser claims its not right, WHY have they sold so many that are junk. Probably because no one wants to spend another 800 bucks to have it pulled out a shipped back to them. I'm gonna keep bitching till they do something.

Lets get a count on clunky Moser 12 bolts.

Add me to the list. I've had countless problems with mine.

Wow this is very interesting to hear. If you guys had to do it all over again would you get the Moser? If not, what would you have gotten instead? Or would you maybe change some of the options? If so, what?

If I had to do it again I would have bought a STRANGE unit. My buddy bought one of those and has had no problems at all. I think they are nicer units. We'll see how mine sounds when it is done. I'm having it worked on now, getting all the bearings replaced.

I have the same clunking sound while making a hard left into my driveway. I thought it was my sway bar hitting the TA cover but it probably is the eaton posi locking/unlocking. I don't even notice it with the radio on. The gears in my moser are quiet just like the stock rear and it laughs at 6K dumps on slicks. I love my moser!

I personally don't think you are gonna get a true POSI unit that locks and unlocks like that making it possible to drive on the street without making some noise. I love mine too regardless of the whine it makes. I have heard the clunking a couple of times but very rarely not bad enough to make me worry.

S-T-R-A-N-G-E #1 IMO as I do get a slight gear whine with my 411'S but the rest is pretty quite...The way these things are installed tells whether or not they are done precisely!!!

Dont get me wrong, I like the Moser. The clunking while turning is a minor thing that is easily ignored and my 4.11 make noise but not enough to be annoying.

How many passes on slicks do you have? My original gears were loud as hell from the beginning and I paid out of my own pocket to have another set of 4.10s installed. The new set was quieter than my stock rear was and I was happier than a pig in ****. That all changed when I went to the track, and after a full day of launching on slicks, they started howling again and now they're almost as loud as the original set was. What a waste of money

Check your brake backing plates to make sure they're not moving. You mention brake squeak and clunking when applying the brakes. When my backing plates were loose (the first time ), I would have exactly that symptom. See if you can wiggle the rear caliper. If you can, the bolts are loose.

Second time it wasn't so obvious, but it happened

Third time neither.

I'm waiting to use Loctite Red on them until after I put some 4.56's in there.

Hey Phil, I have well over 100 passes on slicks with my moser and it has stayed quiet. I used 85w140 dino gear oil since day 1 which seems to work well. I guess someone took a little extra time when they assembled mine.
