Default Auburn Pro making Clunking Banging noise in sharp turns....help!!

I have an Auburn Pro carrier............just put it in a couple of weeks ago. It is making a lot of clunking noises when i turn into parking spaces.......both left and right. The installer used the Ford friction modifier. Is there something wrong with my carrier or will an Auburn make noises like this??

I am going to change the gear oil tomorrow and put the GM additive in it. What brand nonsynthetic gear oil is the best?? Just wondering if there was somethin wrong with it.

thanks

Weird thing is that it started doing it as soon as I picked it up from the shop........I put some more of the friction modifier in it and it stops...........A week later and now it starts making the sound again...........I changed the fluid today and put the GM friction modifier in it and it is quiet now................wonder how long it is going to stay quiet??

If its a true locker you will always hear that noise, if its a ratchet style locker that is?

You need to read the bottle of modifier. Some you only need one bottle, but I have seen some brands where you need one for each bottle of gear lube, which means you could need 1.5-2 bottles. After you add it do some figure 8 turns, that makes both sides of the diff operate and work the fluid in.

I put some more of the modifier in it and it is nice and quiet now. It was locked up as tight as a spool until it put the friction modifier in it.

thanks

I was gonna say.... the Ford stuff is the best fric mod that you can get.

And yes... the Pro series is a little tighter and sometimes needs more than a single 4 Oz bottle. Glad to hear it was a simple fix.

My auburn racers series came in today and it said use 3oz of their friction modifier per quart of rear end fluid. I don't know if its different for mine or not since its tighter than the pro, but I just thought I'de let ya know.
