a 12 bolt out of a 66-71 impala,or caprice, or a '70- 71 monte carlo is 64" which is 1 inch narrower than the rearends in an '93-'02 f-body. they have 30 spline axles from the factory and you would just have to fab the torque up somehow. moser also makes c-clip axles for these rearends . i believe $229 or something close to that

fabbing the torque arm mount is the hardest part though.

there are many rear ends that are the same width as the camaro rear. but welding to a cast irno case can prove to be difficult for even the best welder. since steel and cast cool at different rates you get cracking or a if your able to cool the weld slowly you can get a decent weld but it will still fatigue after a while ssince your welding dissimilar metals

i'm putting a 12 bolt in my '99 Z28 sometime this year. i have an impala housing and i am going to do away with the torque arm and make a set of short ladder bars to go in place of the lower control arms. then there would be no need to weld to the cast housing or no buying an aftermarket torque arm

Just seems to me you would be moving the instant center waayy back by eliminating the long torque arm to just the two shorter ladder bars. Seems like you would be giving up traction unless I am missing something.

I'm doing some research of using a 8.8 and that setup myself. I'm not sure how everything would line up as I plan on minitubbing also.
