Trans problems, no 2nd gear

Trans problems, no 2nd gear After destroying my 3.73 geared 10-bolt, I replaced it w/a 3.42 rear from an M6. I drove about 30 miles to the shop that has my LS1 edit program so they could correct my speedometer and set WOT shiftpoints. During the drive to the shop the car would start in 1st and wouldn't shift to second, after letting off the gas the shift to third would be made. Then I noticed I had no OD either, so I just drove it in D.
I was hoping once the speedometer was corrected that the trans would shift correctly, but when they took the car out to set WOT shiftpoints it still would not shift to second. I was told the computer is telling the trans to shift, but its not shifting.
I'm pretty sure trans is toast. Did I ruin it by driving it to the shop before the 3.42 gear was programmed in? I just thought the speedometer would read a little low and the shifts happen a little late. Maybe it was just its time to go, it get beaten on alot at the track. I knew I would need a built trans sooner or later, I was just hoping for later.
Any input on this is much appriciated. 
PS: I had the converter restalled from a 3200 to a 3600 and had to get the 1-2 shift point lowered a little. I thought this was due to the looser converter, I guess 2nd gear was slowly going out all along.

Re: Trans problems, no 2nd gear Sounds like you blew out 2nd gear when the rear end blew. Most likely it was on the way out and the shock that the rear end made the tranny absorbed and bit the dust . I just got mine rebuilt back in feburary for almost the same reason but i blew out the sprag and the car would only shift manualy. Now the tranny shift faster and smoother than ever

You might want to call FLP and see if you might have just blown an accumulator, maybe ask hmmmm Prissillo if she had this problem a year ago.

oh yea, hows the trans fluid smell?
also, does it seem to drive a tad better when its cold vs warm? when my clutches went the fluid was dark and smelled horrible.

Speed Inc. has the car now and I'm waiting for a diagnosis, I may have broke a valve spring on the dyno also.
Re: Trans problems, no 2nd gear Sorry to hear that your having more problems. Sounds like the clutches are gone. I had the same problem 4 years ago in Florida on vacation 91 chevy van all of a sudden i had no overdrive.Stopped and had the fluid changed and a couple hours of driving and same thing, no OD.Let it cool for a while was good till it got hot again then no 2nd or OD.Got a hotel, next morning went and bought a new 99 GRAND PRIX ,traded the van in after it had cooled off.Are ya heading out to 41 this weekend with the Escort , let me know maybe ill meet ya there.
