Don't Paint!
and i didnt have to brush or order anything

Who's got an oven that big? Pizza oven?

As for the appearance. Powdercoat looks awesome for sure. But for something that hardly anyone will see por-15 will work good too. If you prep the surface well, and its smooth, it turns out really nice. One of the nice things about the paint is that it self levels really well. Here is my custom crossmember that I por-15'd. And I didnt surface prep hardly at all. Just wiped it with solvent first. Oh and this was brushed on...

By the way...Im not trying to take away from that powdercoated 9in. Or trying to hijack too bad. That rear looks bad ***...and if I had a cheap place to powder coat or a big oven, I would probably be tempted to powdercoat over por-15. Thing is, if powdercoat chips, it will rust under the coating. It happens on off-road parts all the time. Ide rather have a touchable solution that stops rust and looks decent for under the car stuff.
Still...looks great! Post up some pictures when you get all the guts installed and brakes and all.

Yeah...like I said, since you got it coated cheap and all, that was the better choice. I was just saying you can get a "nice enough for under the car" finish using the por-15. And when I was talking about chipping and rusting, I guess I should have clarified with a story. I had a new skid plate under my jeep, and BEFORE I went off roading, I had a few chips from highway stones. Those chips rusted and the surrounding powder coat loosened up and came off in one big sheet. Had that happen on a set of lower controls arms as well...however they WERE scratched off-road. Both products were from big offroad names and werent cheapies. However...Im not saying that it couldnt have just been a poor powder coat job. Which it could have.
Either way...that rear looks awesome. Its almost a shame to put it under the car! Ide like to see some more pictures when you get the thirdmember in and some of the other brake parts on. I love the way a smooth painted/coating 9in housing looks with a clean silver third member installed. Just looks like a cool *** piece of machinery.
