Default Get gears or get a tune?

I have a 99 TA with Spec 4f clutch.. comp 918 springs ..LTs ...ORY... Hooker Catback ...LID... MSD wires...volt booster..no emission eqpt. and no a/c and some other little things.

it was tuned using a street tune by the previous owner with these mods. he actually had true duals. i replaced it with the currant exhaust set up.

So i am wondering if i would benifit more from a dyno tune by a good shop, or should i install a set of 4.10s? what do you guys think?

This is NOT my DD. I'm not worried about gas milage or driveablity. I do want to add a cam but that prob. won't be this year yet.

i have an extra $500 to play with that fell in my lap that my wife doesn't know about

I would get gears then get a tune after the cam. I think you would enjoy the gears more than a couple HP gained from a tune. Odd you would have 918 springs w/o a cam. You could get a cam for $500 also.

yeah i don't know why the previous owner put springs in w/o cam. but i don't think i could buy a cam and get it installed for $500.... i don't have the time to do it in my garage and i don't want it sitting 1/2 the summer in peices.

I'd get it dyno tuned and know where your at before the cam, with your current mods.

Does it still have 3.42 (stock), or installed 3.73?

A dyno tune costs about $500. With his mods he might pick up 10hp and no noticable improvement in drivability IMO. Maybe you know better than me why he should get a tune, but I would save the money and get it tuned after the cam.

Cam is easy to do if you have the tools. There is a good write-up and you can easily do it in a weekend, but that is your call.

Gears and install might be tough with $500.

Or you could get an LS6 intake and ported TB or UD pulley.
