Default GU6 and steel Drive shaft

Alright ive seen it like 6 times on search if you have a steel drivshaft you have 2.73's. Well on my 99 Z28 M6 i have a steel DS but GU6 rpo code on door. So did some M6's with 3.42's have steel DS or whats the deal. Thanks Guys.

no, you should NOT have a steel driveshaft. did you buy the car used? if so someone may have sold the alum one for a few $ before they got rid of the car. You need to check your gears for sure and probably pick up an alum shaft.

I had an M6 with a steel driveshaft (2001). I highly doubt it had been changed as the other owner was an old guy and just hauled his dogs around in it.

Probably didn't have an Aluminum shaft available when the car came down the assembly line so they use what they had. I've seen stuff like this before.
