Default LS1 Driveshaft in LT1

I bought an LS1 aluminum driveshaft off Ebay from a local fbody guy.

I have an LT1 T56. The transmission guy who just replaced my transmission said the rear Ujoint did not match up.

Did I buy the wrong driveshaft or do I need a different ujoint. Are the yokes the same? Or do I need to use the one from the LT1?

It was my understanding they are interchangable, even M6 and auto.

I just did the same thing, ebay LS1 al shaft for my 1996 LT1/T56 car stock 3.42 rear axle. I thought they were the same too and it bolted right in with no problems. I have the original driveshaft from an 82 Camaro and it will bolt in also...

They all should fit with no problem. Never heard of this problem before. I would just change the u-joint. As far as the lenght....it's good if you bought what you thought you bought.

If your refering to the u-joint. The 10 bolt and 12 bolt are interchangable. Should be the same size.

It should fit from what everyone is saying. It is a stock 10 bolt I think! I should look myself. The driveshaft looks unmodified to me.

The guy who installed my replacement trans is a knowwledgable guy and I doubt would have told me wrong. I will pull the driveshaft myself to double check.

I do not have ramps yet. Should/can I use them? I get nervous uder there not fully understanding where the strong points are for jack stands under this car.

Thanks guys!

10 bolt. Man the underside of this car is spotless for a '97. I wonder if it was cleaned before I bought it?

Don't sweat the hijack. All good info. When I hit the lottery a 12 bolt will be needed for the LE2!

You dont need the lottery for a 12 bolt, I only spent about $1800.00 on the 12 bolt I'm pulling out and replacing with $2500.00 worth of 9 inch no brakes, in more ways than one...
