Strange 3 months old leaking fromthe axles tubes, is this BAD?
Hey I had I Strange installed a couple of months ago and yesterday while I was at the shop and the car was on the lift I noticed thick black lube on the inside of the wheels and on the brakes. The guy at the shop said my axle tubes are leaking. Is the normal and is it OK? I would hate to think my brand new $2200 rear is crapping out already. Thanks for the help. Bear

I called Strange and they said that the same oil from the pumpkin does both the gears and the axles, it travels up and down the tubes. This may be common knowledge for you pros, but for me it was new. I told him that the oil was really a thick lube, not gear oil. I know the difference between lube and oil at least. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I think this lube is just the extar lubew from when the rear was installed and the lcas and panhard were reinstalled. Take care Bear

Most likely, they are leaking where the backing plates bolt to the tube flange. Mine did the same thing. Just back out the axles and RTV the flange where the 4 nuts hold the axles in, re tighten, and you're good to go.
