Anybody know of a transmission jack for the floor
I don't have a lift. I work on the car on jacks. Last time I pulled the transmission it was a pain with the floor jack. Does anybody know of anyone that sells a transmission jack for use when the car is on jack stands and not on a lift?
Also, anybody know what the plug is called that you put into the transmission where the drive shaft goes to keep fluid from leaking out? Know where to buy one?
Thanks.

Re: Anybody know of a transmission jack for the floor
A buddy of mine has on of the trans jacks for the floor that has all the adjustments and it works really well but i did not have the luxury of getting one of those so I had a trans cradle made like what is in JEGS from TCI, they wanted $40+ for that unit, but I took an extra 'cup' from my jack to the local muffler dude and he welded on some flat plating with 1" sides just like the TCI unit and it works great!! Just make sure it is wide/long enough, I think Jegs gives the dimensions. $20 for that and it is alot better than wood and crap like that. The key is having the extra 'cup' for the guy to weld to so he dont have to make the pedestal(sp) to slip into the jack.

Look in the Harbor freight catalog or another tools source. They stock a lift for small motorcycles for 80 bucks or so. I was thinking with a couple of wood adapters it would work great for rear axles or M6's. Haven't bought and tried it yet, but that m6 is a bear to hoist. Since I'm doing my axle solo this winter I need a method for the axle and eventually for the m6 - last time I rented a trans jack and got hosed on a multiday rental when the install was delayed <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I fabbed one with some 1"x3/16" flat stock bent into a cradle shape and welded to a circular plate with holes in it.I drilled some holes in the cup on the jack and voila! free tranny jack.

If u don't want to buy one, go check out ur local rental store. That's what I'm gonna do when I change my clutch here pretty soon.
