gear option for strange 12 bolt 4 seies carrier Can I go with 3.42's or 3.23's with a 4 series (I have 4.10's now)? Or do I need to buy a whole new rear end to drop down to a lower numerical gear?

Yeah looks like 3.73's are the lowest I can do on a 4 series. So, I can swap it for a 3 series carrier?
There is nothing wrong with the 4.10's.
