problem with ford 9 inch

problem with ford 9 inch I installed a ford 9 inch my car about a week or two ago.I started to driving it this weekend.Here is the problems the detroit locker seems to unlock and lock very harsh. It's to the point that it jolts the car.The second problem the yoke has a lot of play.I can grab the drive shaft and spin it about 60 degrees with the car out of gear on the lift.Is all of this normal?

That is not a problem... that is expected. And be lucky its what you would call a jolt... hell... I have had lane changes when a peticyular car of mine resets.
And yes... the shaft will have that much rotational play in it.

Well stated... I dont even relize its even in the diff any more. In fact, I drive that specific car much differently and set up the turn in for a loose off condition. Needless to say... it is a lot of fun.
