Default 10 bolt drum brakes conversion?

I know by old 94 V6 camaro had a 10 bolt with drum brakes, and for laughs i threw my 15x10 prostars on it with 325 DRs, and they fit no problem since the brakes were drum. my question is, would it be possible to take a V6 rear end, put some axles in it, with a 4.10 gear, and swap it in our LS1 cars? So I dont have to grind the calipars for the prostars? Not to sound stupid, just wondered if it was possible, and what all would have to be changed.

Drum brakes also spring back after being applied, so they have less drag. For drag only it doesnt sound like a bad idea, but the rotor and caliper does offer a form of axle retention if an axle breaks. Not in place of a c-clip eliminator, but I have seen them hold the wheel on. I dont think I would do it, but it sounds like a decent idea. I also thought the LT1 discs were different and cleared the 15" wheels better/ less grinding. I know my rears took a **** load of grinding.

I would use LT1 brakes before I used drums on my car. Drums were eliminated from the F bodies for a reason lol. I run Weld Pro Stars (15x10) and will be using either a Wilwood set up, OR the LT1 brakes...have not decided yet. My wallet may do the deciding

It would def work though, just pack two parachutes for the 1/4 mile!

lol drums arnt THAT bad...we slow our 9.60s @ 140mph car down with drum brakes in the back

i just wondered what all would have to be changed as far as brake lines or brake parts went.

so the LT1 brakes will work too with less grinding?

haha I know, they are just SO inefficient compared to the good ole rotor/caliper style! It is almost funny t convert back lolol

Hell, I guess all the old school drag cars had drums, ON ALL FOUR CORNERS!
