Default putting a 4-channel rear in a 3 channel car?

What do you have to do to put a 10-bolt 4-channel rear end in a car that came with a 3-channel?

you have to get the ring adapter or a 3 channel carrier with it on it with all the teeth on it for the sensor to read in the housing. Then you have to drill a hole and install the sensor to read it.

I'm pretty sure you can use the 4 channel axles for the 3 channel, just can't do vise versa, use 3 channel axles for a 4 channel.
