Default Upgraded Hydraulics

I think my stock clutch is beginning to rapidly fade after about 45k miles or so, and I'm looking into something new. I only plan on making the car a bolt-on+no2 pushing 450-500 horses (rear wheel) so I was thinking about tossing in either a spec II or even a z06 clutch with the theory that it'll slip before my rear goes boom. Anyway, I hear that in the older cars like my 98 people also install the newer hydraulics along with the clutch. My question is what is the reasoning exactly and how are the older hydraulics flawed? The reason I'm interested is because at the moment I can barely afford to put in the clutch itself and I'm wondering if I just drive around with a slipping clutch until I can afford the new hydraulics as well or if I can just do the clutch now and hydraulics later.

You'll be much happier if you can do it all together. The new hydraulics is a slave (less than $100) and an adjustable master cylinder (ADJ stock is $100ish from Cartek). You need a new slave with the miles you have on the car....you'll hate it if you put a new clutch in and the old slave starts to leak...double labor and you may mess the clutch disk up. The adjustable master lets you properly adjust a performance clutch. I like Cartek but have heard good things about Ram and the new Spec clutches...try to buy on a group purchase in the vendor section to save some $$$$.
