Default help with bad track times, please read...

Hey Everyone. Ok, my car averages about 12.85 in the 1/4 at 109mph w/2.0 60' on street tires. I recently installed a PY3600E torque converter with a 2.75 str. It seems to stall around 3200. I ran my car at the track tonight, and couldn't get traction, so I let someone who knows how to drive drive my car. He pulled a 1.85 60' out 5 times in a row on those same tires, and cut consistently in the 12.8 range at 105mph!!!!. Those times seem to be MUCH worse. Is it purely because I can't launch as hard now with the verter as I did before the verter? I personally was pulling 13.4's in my car with a 2.4 60' and still 105mph traps. Any thoughts/theories as to what is going on? Thanks in advance.

you are in serious need of slicks, a converter like that needs to be launched off idle and use all its Tourqe multiplication and don't expect your MPH to increase, Trap speeds are a product of horse power. Of a better rear isn't in your future get a set of Nittos and pray everything holds.

Everyone has told me that the rear on an auto should hold just fine. Also, do you think even with slicks I will be running 105 mph traps? Supposedly this yank verter is more efficient than stock, so why would i LOSE 5mph in the traps? Just doesn't make sense. Help me make some sense out of this.

Also, would having too much fluid in the tranny hurt it? I think I am a little overfilled in my tranny.

depends on how much fluid u could blow some seals out...

I just went wheels up 6" on a stock 10bolt with 3.73s and girdle last weekend... and it has seen 1.53s with 150 shot out of the hole a few times. whines now but still going ... you will lose MPH with slicks... but ur 60 will be better. i was running 108 mph with 12.6 ets and 1.7x 60fts on ET Streets...

Mike your converter is a VERY hard hitting one and i would not trust the stocker to hold it for long. I've seen a stock 3.23 rear blow with BFG DRS and a Vigi2800 and that converter has Less STR than you do. I was not willing to chance it so thats why i got the 9in and my STR is less than yours also at 2.55

I can't afford a new rearend right now. I have a 2nd car, so would rather my rear break before replacing it. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I'm not sure on exact #'s, but the air was roughly the same if not better on my last run than it was 2 runs ago before verter.
