How do you shift your auto

How do you shift your auto Just wondering if you keep it in gear till you stop then put it in 1st or shift while your slowing down? Which way is easyer on the trany not that I should break mine ever again.

Re: How do you shift your auto let the computer do it. The computer will control the line pressure for best results when it does it. I rarely force the car to downshift manually.

Re: How do you shift your auto Agreed. Keep it in "D". BUT, sometimes I will drop it in first at a light so I can hold the gear. I don't want to get caught on the bottom end of second gear. A converter and 3.73's would be nice.

There is absolutely no advantage,otherwise,to manually shifting gears, with a 4L60E.

Re: How do you shift your auto i shift my manual valve body at around 3-3500 rpm's. and i start down shifting at around 10-15 miles an hour. and i leave the converter unlocked around town. on the freeway ill lock it up though.
