Re: vacuum modulated
Yeah ! I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that question myself ! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
What are the specific gains also ? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: vacuum modulated
Switching to vacuum modulation is good because the computer can pull line pressure during shifts and at WOT or if you port the maf, etc, etc.

Re: vacuum modulated
to my understanding the point of the vacuum modulator is to have the line pressure in the tranny directly relate to vacuum in the engine instead of relying on the computer too. From what i have been told the computer cannot keep up the line pressure in time when you floor it and it shifts/downshifts. This burns the clutches a little bit everytime.
With the vacuum modulator it can relate to the vacuum in the engine and react much quicker than a solenoid and keep up the line pressure
edit:
OH, to answer your first question...it is a very simple converions to go vacuum modulated and can be done with at home in the garage. I would reccomend the car to be on the lift or the tranny on the bench. You will need a drill,a drill bit, and some punches. Thanks

Sounds like the only way to fly with A4!
This should be perfect way to keep line pressure hi under heavy engine loads. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: vacuum modulated
The computer does pulling timing during a shift, but vacuum modulation will not change that. The pcm has to be edit to delte Torque Management. Vacuum modulation only affects line pressure, not timing. I am not sure were to get the parts for vacuum modulation, I had my transmission built by FLP.

I honestly dont think the commone person is allowed to buy the kit from trans-go like the shift kits. Dont ask me why but my own tranny shop i used to work at wouldn't even sell one to my friend until they found out he was a dealer mechanic and knew what he was doing LOL
I would call up your local performance tranny shop and ask them about the kit and see if they will sell it to you

Re: vacuum modulated
I have a brand new vacuum modulator from Transgo.
46-MOD $50.00 shipped if you want it.
Also the
VBP-VAC $15.00 (by pass for forced induction only)
Was going to use it for my Incon TT, but didn't use it after I sold the TT.

Re: vacuum modulated
Do you have the instructions with it also? Can you scan those and email them? I really want this, but I need to see if I can do it myself.
Or if someone knows of any instructions online for this kit, I'd appreciate a link. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

There are 4 pages of instructions with diagrams and pictures. If you can install a trango shift kit, then you can do this.

Re: vacuum modulated
I had my tranny converted with rebuild. Noticeable difference to say the least. I do not know any specifics about it though. You will need to delete the TM from the PCM though.
