Default A4+4.10s+28" tires

Would that be a workable combo? Car is bolted, 3600 stall, lvl2 performabuilt trans. I'm trying te get better traction out of the hole. Car has what looks to be a truetrack posi. What gear ratio would I have going this route? Would I run out of gear in the 1/4? Would it slow me down or speed me up? Any info would be much appreciated.

i would say its a perfect combo ..... i know several nitrous cars running 28/11.5/15 MT drags but with a tighter converter like 3000-3200 and they all run really good 1.3sh 60 foots here and there 1.40s all day long and heck one of these guy even run 9.4 @ 145 so you def. wont run out of gear

Just use an rpm calculator, enter your tire size, gear ratio and rpm and it will give you a list of rpms and mph for each gear. http://www.f-body.org/gears/

4.10's with a 28" tire will work, so will 4.10's with a 26" tire, depends on how much mph you'll run in the 1/4.

Just a question why are you going to a 4.10 if you have 3.73's? I hope you don't expect it to go much faster.

Yes going to a 4.10 should speed up your et some but not much, I wouldn't change gears for a tenth or so, if anything I would spend that money setting up the chassis and getting the car to hook, it is easy to add power., but 200 for gears and hundreds more for the install isn't worth 1 or 2 tenths, with that you could buy a few different parts.

I bought the car used and the rear end has always made alot of noise. I finally decided that it's time to go through and refresh the thing. I had the Diff. cover off and had a mechanic friend look at it and it seems the gears where set up wrong and the wear pattern is not good. Right now I am having problems hooking so I figured among my options was to go to a 4.10 gear and 28" tire for my 17" wheels. Car is pretty much DD, but not my car for long road trips. I'm trying to get some side wall for traction but I don't want to slow the car down. I would be happy if the speed stays the same but I have a better hole shot. Maybe I just need to learn how to launch a stalled auto, but if I come out of thehole very hard I lose traction with my BFG drag radials. I could keep my gearing the same and try some ET streets but I figure I can go with the 4.10s and gain side wall I had best be able to hook.
