Re: which 12 bolt moser or strange?
I have a Moser but it wasn't assembled by Moser. Rapid Motorsports had a local guy do the set-up, and its great, very minimal whining. I understand that people who have gotten the Moser assembled are complaining a lot about noise. It seems that Moser has had some difficulty in gear set-up. The Moser also utilizes 4 short single bolts to contain the Torque arm, instead of the 2 really long bolts w/ nuts that the OEM arm/10 bolt use. Most Moser users have had some problems with these four bolts backing out and this causes the torque arm to break. This also happened to me. I now have loctited them in and used lock washers. I hear the strange unit uses the same 2 bolt design as the Moser, but I am not certain. Hopefully a Strange user will chime in here to verify. Both units are good units no doubt and both are about the same price when fairly equipted with options. I have a HD Eaton Posi, 33 spine axles, T/A cover, ABS, and traction control and 4.10 gears. I would recommend you get these options too, the gear choice is personal preferance but if you have an M6 trans go with at least 4.10s, if you aren't using any power adders.

I have a Moser with 3.90 gears in my A4 and I like it.A year ago everyone was down on Strange but now some bad mouthing is going Moser's way so take your pick as both are proven pieces.

i have the moser and LOVE it. mine is actually quieter then my stock 10bolt. everything bolted togeather nice (not REAR swaybar)i dont have one on and dont miss it. the rear takes one hell of a beating, overall i'm happy with the product.some people are having bad luck with noise and for the money they paid,i think that sucks. goodluck to you and them.

I believe all you have to do is get some 3" ubolt clamps and the swaybar will mount right up to the Moser. There is no advantage whatsoever of not running a rear swaybar.

Re: which 12 bolt moser or strange?
Ive got the Strange and have quite a few passes on ET Streets on it. As for Moser being stronger...Im not so sure (far be it from me to disagree with the Colonel). A 9 inch..yeah...definitely stronger. But I have seen no evidence from the 15 or so local guys running 12 bolts that the Moser is stronger.
I have minimal whine..just a little at 60 or 65 at part throttle.
I have heads going on in a few weeks and should put down 430ish...so we'll see how the rear likes that under 1.6ish passes next year.

That's probably because none of them are running fast enough for it to matter (are any of them running at least 8s in the 1/4?) I didn't say the Strange housing (which I believe is a factory GM housing) is weak. I said the Moser housing (which MOSER designed from the ground up to be even stronger than their 9") is stronger.
Having said that, I think either housing is strong enough for just about any of us, myself included.

Not having a rear swaybar is really bad for starting line traction.

I have a moser w/ 4.10's. Just installed it yesterday at my shop and it looks great. I'll keep you posted on how it performs. Doing a little fabrication today to get the stock sway bar back on!

It's a one for one swap everything bolts to the same spots.Sway arm mounting will need to have a 31/2" muffler clamp as tube sizes are different.Might get a freind to help just to make it easier.

Awesome!
When I meant I'd do it myself, I meant in my garage. I'd have a friend there. No need to pay someone what you can do yourself.
