288 Slave?

288 Slave? What is a 288 Slave? I bought a new 01 slave for my 2000 Hawk, but I think I might have gotten a dude. Now I need to replace it and was looking around and see some of you guys referring to a 288 slave. Is that the 01/02 slave? The part number I got for the 01 slave for our cars is 12565145. Could someone clear this up?

Re: 288 Slave? The 288 slave came out towards the end of 1999. It replaced the original slave that came in '98 and most of the '99 cars. The 145 slave is the newest slave from GM.
The only difference between the 288 and the 145 slave is the thickness of the shim between the slave and the TO bearing from what I have been told and from what I have seen by taking the 2 million old slave cylinders I have pilled up in my garage. lol

Re: 288 Slave? Hey Thanks for the reply Jason. Which Slave is better? I thought the revision was done in 01? Or are their two revisions to the Slave, one in 99(288) and one in 01(145)? At thunder what is the beefiest Slave you guys sell? I mean will a stock slave hold up to stiffer and stiffer pressure plates?

Re: 288 Slave? Mike, as far as I know, there has been two revisons for the LS1 f-body slave cylinder.
The only slave cylinder available at this time is the GM unit. Mcleod had a few aftermarket slaves out in 1999 they were testing, but had seal problems with them. I installed two of those, both of which exploded. lol
