Default 99 carrier in 96 housing?

While I am working on my LS1 project car I am driving a 94 firebird with lowly 3.4 liter/auto and open rear.My local GM dealer just gave me a 1996 disc brake rear from a customers car that needs all new bearings and carrier, but the brakes are great and so is the housing.I bought a 2000 disc brake rear so I can put the brakes on my 73 LS1 project and want to know if I can put the 2000 carrier in the 96 housing.A quick glance at the parts computer looked promising.Does anyone here know?
While I am at it,does anyone know if I can replace the two piece shaft in my firebird for an aluminum one from a 93-02 ??
Thanks in advance for any help ,Joe

You should be fine as i swapped a 95 carrier in my 98 housing. Also the driveshaft should not be an issue either.
