Default rear end question

Ok guys here is a question that is kinda bothering me... I just decided to change the gears from 323's to 373's on my car. The car has about 380whp and 400 torque, plus 125 shot, which i'm gonna reduce to 100. My question is how much abuse can the stock rear end on a 2002 Trans Am take??? Cause I was told that it's not strong enough then again I've hard of some people running 10's wth the stock rear end.
The problem is that I cannot afford a 9" rear end cause as some of you would understand I'm married so funds are kind of limited.

What usually kills them is the shock from launching hard. If your an A4 and just driving it on the street it can last a long time. If you go to the track and are launching hard with a stall and traction, it probably won't. If your an M6 you can easily kill it on the street.

A4 set up correctly can go 9's on a 10bolt.

M6 set up correctly go boom in the 12's

I happen to run low 11's on my A4, 150 nitrous off the line with slicks, 373's and a 3500stall. No problems. 1.5 60ft

Thanks for the advice...I happen to have a 3200 stall if I'm not mistaken...How do you launch yours????? Cause I'm still trying to get the hang of it.
I have Patriot Stage 2 Heads and Cam Package with headers, internals, Converter and Built Tranny, I also have a ZEX NOs kit.
I've this car basically in my garage for a year now since the lady won't lt me dump more money into it. That is the reason why I'm doing gears instead of something bigger.

I would change fluid every 10-20 k, keep wheel hop to a min. and also weld the axel tubes to the carrier housing. Then roll the dice cause its a crap shoot! But with an a4 you are in better shape than m6 5k launches!

Well, i haven't had a lot of driving time with any other stall than the one i have, but most stalls have a "sweet spot" so to speak, on my stall 1300 footbrake is the sweet spot and then it just yanks you back.

A properly set up 10 bolt will vary from differnt opinions. But I have:

Auborn HP posi
Stud Kit
TA Cover
Thick gears (373s)
(also, get a thicker rear end fluid)

Lower control arms
Pan hard bar.

As long as you dont have wheel hop, you should be safe, thats the number one killer in 10 bolts. The M6 cant preload the rear end, thats why they die so fast, but the A4 is a lot softer on the rear end because they can preload the rear end. hope this helps
