Re: How much for a gear swap??
What you need really depends on how many miles are on the car. If it has low miles you can get away with just a basic kit which has pinion seal, crush colar, shims and cover gasket. If it has higher miles you might as well get a full kit with pinion and carrier bearings. As far as which brand to get, its really up to you. All of the big names like Motive, Strange, Moser are all good gears. Motives are proven to be quiet. I would stay away from Richmond. They're usually a little noisier than the other brands. You dont really need a shift kit or worry about TM with a gear install. Thats stuff you got to worry about with a converter. Youll also need to recalibrate your speedo and you might have to play with your shift points a little. HPP3 will take care of that for you. You can usually find used ones here on the board for a decent price. Labor will run you between $150 to $250. Hope this helps you out.

Nitro Dave a board sponsor set me up. ~$415 for the master install kit, 4.10's Motive, TA cover and all the goodies. The install cost $200
I'm very happy the gears are quiet for gears for 4.10's in a 10-bolt.
Precision has a good rep too.
Gears were one of the best mod's <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

thunderracing.com sells a gear install "kit" that includes your choice of gear ratio Motives, all the supplies that you'll need, and a Hypertech for something like $550. If you have 2.73's now I think you need to tell them that when ordering because you have a different carrier.
