Default Odd Vibration with new 3.73

I just had my 3.73 gear installed on my 98 A4.

I replaced my stock 2 series carrier with a stock 3 series carrier out of a m6 car -- carrier had 6000 miles.

New bearings -- new Motive Performance 3.73 gear.

When I'm going around 65 or 70 and I let off the gas -- I get an odd throbbing vibration - not a constant vibration but throbbing. Also when I'm driving at high speeds I get a lot of vibration. The gear hardly whines at all.

What could be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure your driveshaft is centered in the yoke.

Do you still have the steel drive shaft? That could be causing it. Getting an aluminum one may solve the problem

Low speed or High speed? I have seen a LSD or "POSI" at low speeds cause a vibration, it was real weird. But it could be your SHAFT isn' straight <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
