locker question

Default locker question

ok either im missing a very basic understanding of how a locker works or i got the wrong parts. i had a locker installed(or so i was told) but after all was said and done the rear leaked so i had to take it back apart and re-seal the diff cover. anyway while i had it apart i spun the passenger side wheel and noticed that the drivers side didnt move. my understanding was that both should move if one does...is that wrong?

First off... it depends on which differential and which locker you are using.

If the differential is unloaded you may just be able to turn one tire without the other turning. That is not uncommon.

the only thing i was told about the locker was that it was a ratcheting one. but thats good to hear about it being loaded.

now if i can just make it stop howling ill be good lol.

I guess I should have directly asked... are you still running the 7.5" or have you changed the differential as a whole ??

excuse the ignorance, but i really dont know everything there is to know about rear ends. heres what i do know, i gernaded the stock 10 bolt(housing and all) found someone that had an extra housing laying around and put in a ratcheting locker and 4.10s(Richmond) which now wine pretty good.
