Please dont ask why. (long story) but i have a V6 rear end with 308 gearing. I would like to upgrade to some 342s ring and pinion out of a m6 car. can it work??

3.08s is a 2 series, 3.42s are a 3 series. You either need 2 series 3.42s, or a spacer ring.

I think you can get one from New Era performance. It goes between the ring gear and the carrier. I would highly recommend getting 2 series 3.42s though instead of getting the spacer.

the spacer is a 'last resort' situation. The spacer has to be 'perfect',flat and parallel.Any variance from 'perfect' will produce a varying lash situation. Also with a spacer, two potentially sliding surfaces have been introduced which could cause ring gear bolts to lose their torque.

The spacer isn't that bad, I went 6.8xs on mine

Speed Inc also sells the ring gear spacer (Motive)

Thunder racing has 3.42 "thick gears" for 225.00 with no spacer needed!
