4.30's and 4.56's for Stock Rear
A friend of mine is looking to do a few bolt ons for his Z28 LS1 M6 and wants the biggest bang for the buck - no internal stuff.
He has planned intake, exhaust and wants gears. He's had 4.10's before - but we want to go a little bigger, is there a set of 4.30's or 4.56's that will fit in the stock rear?
When we check out our online vendors most of them only carry up to the 4.10's.

they dont make a 4.30 gear set for the 10 bolt. but they do make a 4.56. i have them siting right next to me waiting to be installed. check out www.nationaldrivetrain.com. excellent prices and a warranty. picked mine up for $150 and the eaton posi for $335.

IMO the 4.56 gears will only last 2 months of beating on them, the teeth are soooo tiny.
I had a friend with 4.56's and they were neat, he was able to roll off a lite in 3rd gear too.

ROB'S SS - thanks for the link, let me know how your install goes, why did you also get the Eaton posi?
thanks!

He found a sweet M6 and picked it up after talking to you.
He may call you if he decides on these gears, thanks!

Re: 4.30's and 4.56's for Stock Rear
We are trying to get in touch with people that are actually running 4.30's or 4.56's in a stock rear to find out some stuff about longevity - anyone currently running these that can give us some feedback?

Re: 4.30's and 4.56's for Stock Rear
I know of one car currently running 4.56 gears in a 7.5". It is a M6 car that has a Futral Motorsport's 388 All-bore motor. He drives around on street tires most of the time, but has used some ET streets in the past without any problems.
Another LT1 car around here is/was using the 4.30s with pretty good results.
Again, they are not very strong at all. But, You may get lucky. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
