Weird Vibration
Weird Vibration Okay so heres the deal. I changed my u-joints awile back and i got this slight vibration at certian RPM's. I just thought the DS might be a little out of balance. Well i just finished up my cam and verter swap, went for a short test drive lastnight and the vibration felt worse (About 2000 RPM's). I get to work this morning and i hold the RPM's at 2000-2500 in park and there's the vibration! WTF? I dont know if this will help you guys out or not, but ive got a TCI 3500 and TSP's V3. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Was the vibration there before the TQ converter? I would bet on the converter being out of balance if it wasnt. Its definately caused by somehing between the balancer and the converter. Check to se if the weight is still on the converter, then check the balancer, the bolt may have loosened up
I have the same problem in an m6 car, I have rebalanced ds new u joints sixspeedinc stage 4 rebuild new flywheel and clutch. Vibration was there before when it was all stock. I think it is something in the motor of balance even tried a new harmonic balancer. No luck yet.

Brand new Polyurethane motor and trans mounts and torque arm bushing.
I bought the converter used from a friend and he said it didnt have alot of miles on it and worked fine when he took it out. Its got to be something in the motor or converter if it does it in park.

You pretty much have to just make out a check list and start with the easiest most obvious fixes first.
If it is in park obviously it's not the drive shaft.
Have you recheck the converter bolts?
If it isn't that I'd try swapping a converter with a buddy whether it is a stock one or not and take it for a run and see if the vibration is gone.

Verdad Gallardo I first started chasing motor mounts when i first felt the vibration when the car was bone stock. I have poly motor mounts and poly tq arm. I am guessin our problem has to be internal.

Take a look at the harmonic balancer with the car idling, and look to see that it is not wobbling. We had a Camaro last year that had the same symptoms and the balancer was shot and you could see it wobbling. Bob
Did you bang the joints in and out? If you did did you at least heat up the fiberglass retaining the joints from the factory? Did you dent the shaft banging them out or in? This will cause a vibration. I would suggest marking the shaft in reference to the yoke as to be sure to get it back correctly. Some shafts have more meat on one side of the yoke and if you notice, there will be a big weight spot welded to the opposite side of the shaft. If installed incorrectly, this will really cause a vibration. My mechanic is very good, but a Mazda RX7 came in for that very thing. The boss is the boss because he thinks outside the box and the mechanic is very humble as he put another feather in his hat. Good luck. Remember, "I just put in some u-joints and got this vibration", before the converter and other stuff.
