?'s about shift kits
to give more clutch clamping force, faster
applies, etc. Supposed to give better
performance and less wear, make it harder
to burn up clutches, etc.
I don't know how this all works with the
semi-electronic 4L60E (I say semi-electronic
because hydraulics still do all the work,
the electronics just say when and what,
and have some input to line pressure etc.).
But I've got one coming in the mail, so I'm
pretty interested in experiences with the
Trans-Go kit. Things like which setting you
used, whether it's too soft / too hard /
just right (for what kind of setup), things
the install instructions left out, and so on.
I don't like the shifts on my A/T, especially
when I'm letting it haul up to 50 but then
have to let off for traffic, that 2-3 upshift
just haannngggssss and sands those poor little
3-plates-short clutches. I'm hoping for more
decisive (and faster, I hate it when I mash
the pedal and have to wait a second or two
for the kickdown) out of the kit. We'll see....
The downside is that an improperly installed transgo kit or too much line pressure will lead to a much shorter tranny or converter life. Like Steve said, I would use a tranny shop to install the transgo and have them verify the line pressure when they are done.
