At what point do I need a 12 bolt?

With a six-speed, on slicks you are probably only good to about 350 RWHP before you get into the danger zone. Stock clutch could go out before rear end though. Some have had more luck here, some less.
With an auto, there have been people with well over 400 RWHP run with that for over a year, including some 10-sec cars. However, once you start getting up there, even with an auto you need a 12-bolt/9".

Re: At what point do I need a 12 bolt? Thanks weatherguy. I have the m6. I've got a set of 4.8l heads getting ready to go to riggs and waiting for money for a tr230, holley int and hooker lt's. Guess I better leave the street tires on and save for a clutch as well! Sure will suck spending $2000 to lose 25rwhp. Oh well, the extra 25rwhp won't be much help through a busted rear. Thanks again
