"Strong" is relative when you are talking about a 10 bolt.

Are they good gears? Yes. Do they have a less chance of going kaput than anything else you put back there? Not necessarily.

I've used Richmond, Motive and Yukon and they all were about the same.

Question

I agree that the Richmond is comparable to the Motive Performance as far as strength. I do not care for the Yukon Gear though, we quit selling them a couple years ago as we have had issues with them.

I know as stated noise is not an issue but strength reletive to the limitation of the size of the 10 bolt's ring and pinion the only thing that makes one better then the other is the noise level. I'd take motives any day of the week in the end.

My richmonds were noisy and I broke them in my 10 bolt. I now have a moser 12 bolt and no problems. I think you have more to worry about the fact if its a 10 bolt rather than the brand of gears.

I have had my richmonds for over a year and they are loud. For some reason they are not as loud as they use to be but still no where close to quiet. I have put some abuse on them and they are still standing strong so far.

Motive performance gears(Italy made gears), are nice gears.
DONT USE THERE INDIA GEAR SETS!!!! THEY SUCK!!!!!

For GM rear ends I also sell AAM gears. The shops that use them say they set up great and are dead quiet, but thats what you get for using the company that makes the axles for GM.

I killed a set of Richmonds pretty quick, then switched to Motive and those were strong enough to withstand an axleshaft explosion. They held strong through ~100 dead hook M6 nitrous runs.

Broke 2 sets of Richmonds and 1 set of Yukons in my 10 bolt. Have Motive's in my 12 bolt with no problems. It is a 12 bolt though.
