Default Does This Sound Like A Bad Pinion Bearing?

My sons 02 Z28 (42K miles) has a sound coming from the rear of the car that is best descibed as a grinding sound. It starts at about 20 mph and will stop after dropping below 15 mph. Besides a pionion bearing, what else could it be? Thanks

could be the pinion bearing, axle bearings or diff bearings (forgot the technical term). is the grinding noise any louder turning one way vs the other?

Most likely bad pinion bearings. Should get louder with speed. We have a complete Master Timken Kit on our website....

Give the driveshaft a good shake and see if the pinion has excessive movement.
