The only time a Detroit will lock is when it is under torq load. As for the nosie issue you really don't hear anything. I had a a 96 Dodge Ram with 4:56 gears and a Detroit in the rear plus a Trac-Loc in the front. Traded it in for my 2002 TA.

U can install a truck locker in a 12 bolt but I dont know if its a 33 spline,I think theyre 28 or 30 spline based on older GM drivetrains.

<<detroit locker GM 12 bolt $525>>

The classic detroit locker. There is also a soft locker option out there which is the same but it basically pre-loads the unit so that it engages softer, and there is a racing detroit which has many more points of engagement.

<<detroit EZ locker GM 12 bolt $269>>

This is a newer style that just replaces the spider gears in an open carrier. This is to the detroit as a mini-spool is to a spool.

<<true-track GM 12 bolt $369>>

This is a torsen style posi that is built stronger to be able to handle larger tires in trucks. I don't have any idea how it would work for a sports car though.

The true track is a HD LSD, not a full locker. But they are hard to break lose. And with LSD you can rebuild them with new clutch packs.

supersport

Cool, I am happy to see more and more Ls1s in my area. I was debating on moving to Houston or something. I am getting really tired of seeing rice. I have no problem with foreign cars, its those ones that are all rusty and 8 different colors with SUMMIT RACING stickers on them!

I am also under the impression that our Moser 12bolts are based off the Truck 12bolts, not the passenger car 12bolts.

All based off passenger car rears like the 'velles and stuff

When we order gearsets, its for the pass car

i hear that mongoose...ive never been to mentor, but down here in canton ricers are a dime a dozen. more fart pipes and top fuel dragster wings than you can count. sad but true. we'll have to meet up sometime IF the weather ever breaks. i have a few other f-bod buddies down here as well...we are always looking for more to hang with.
