Speed Inc tranny craps out in 2000miles!!
I recently got a Speed Inc stage 2 4L60E for my car. It crapped out after barely 2000 miles. Even my stock GM tranny lasted 6200 miles. For a tranny that's supposed to be good for 600hp it didn't like my 400hp car too well . The tranny didn't even have 15 full passes on it. Lastnight it started slipping at the top of 3rd. Then 10 mins later wouldn't even shift into 3rd. Pulled the car over and tranny fluid was puking out from the bellhousing. Car wouldn't move, so I had to have the car towed home
I don't know the extent of damage as of now, I just hope it didn't mess up my torque converter too
The tranny is still under Speed Inc's 6month warranty, so we'll see what they have to say...

Did you check the vacuum line to make sure it didn't pop off the trans or melt aganist something hot?

Sounds like the tranny line C clip broke. Crawl under the car on the passenger side and see if one of the tranny lines up top on the houseing poped out. I had the same problem last year and it was a broken C clip on the end of the line.

Damn that sucks Badass. When I talked to you on the phone you said it was puking trans fluid from the bell housing. I can't wait to see how speed inc handles this.
Good luck

Also, I never did think the trans shifted fast enough on the 2-3 shift. The 1-2 shift happened as soon as you moved the shifter but the 2-3 took 500 rpms more then it should have.

I think the input shaft might have broke. I briefly checked under the car and the vaccum line is fine. tranny lines seemed ok, but I'll crawl under the car again tomorrow and double check...

I agree on the 'let your computer shift' deal.
Either way, it sucks when you buy a 'built' trans. and it doesn't hold up to the power you thought it would. I know they use this same trans in their shop car (blown big cubed LS1) and it's held up with no issues.
I also know that they WILL take care of you without any hassles. Speed Inc is a great shop and Tom, Larry, Jim and the guys know their stuff and are very helpful.

Re: Speed Inc tranny craps out in 2000miles!!
they actually use a stage 3 tranny in their shop car. The guy that built my tranny personally called me this evening and said he'd take care of everything.
I just didn't expect the tranny to mess up. It was the last thing on my mind since I just got it in October

His tranny guy is a good guy, he took care of me, I bought my TH400 from speed, I had an internal seal that was leaking, and he fixed it, hasn't leaked since..
